I can say I can be and have been hard on films made for adults, my past dictated some higher standards having known many in the industry. And I have also been hard on Animated films, finding faults in the little inconsistencies. But I would not discourage a parent from taking their child to see a movie so filled with fun. The flaws that others have found in the film-making of this movie I did not notice I was too busy having FUN!
Come ON! And let's not forget Dolly Parton and Ozzy Osbourne. But the be all standout character for this film was the music. The subtle ways Elton John's music was used to heighten the drama and create a comedy was priceless. I still can't get Benny and Jetts out of my head and they only used a few chords in the movie! When we came home my girls asked about the songs and we spent a few minutes on YouTube watching Elton John videos only to have the girls realize some of the jokes from the movie about Elton John and his crazy glasses!
In short, I really enjoyed this movie. It is fun and moves quickly! If you like the ads or the actors or music give it a chance! Good family fun by sara OK so it wasn't what Shakespeare wrote, but very cute with references and jokes adults would understand more than children, but still fun and appropriate for all ages.
I saw this movie with two other adults no kiddos and we all loved it. I highly recommend for anyone who wants a good laugh and great dialogue.
The older I get, the more I appreciate good, clean movies with at least some morals expressed. In today's world of movies with nasty language, gratuitous sex and over-the-top violence, this was a breath of fresh air. In my experience, you always miss something while laughing at something else. And we did a lot of laughing! Fun stuff for kids, more than OK for their parents by LazySod In the beautiful British town of Stratford-Upon-Avon there's a street where the owners of two neighbouring houses have no idea of the rich lives being led in their backyards.
In these backyards there are two groups of garden gnomes - one garden is ruled by the blue hatted variety, the other is ruled by the red hatted variety. An age old feud - of which the reason has long since been forgotten - is keeping them apart, but unexpected events might just be enough to get them back together again. Like many animation films being made these last years it combines fun things for kids with fun things for adults - without hurting either group the innuendo that is fun for adults is not seen by kids whose innocence protects them from it, the deviation from the original tales to make it fun for kids is not so warped that it makes it unrecognisable for them parents.
The animation is great - the gnomes and the gardens are just lovely to watch. The setting with gnomes is flawless - the sounds, the implications of being a garden gnome - it works out really well.
If there would be one bit of negativity for this film it is that its trailer is a bit too biased towards an audience that wants to see romance instead of a bit of light comedy. I disagree with the reviewer that says it's a "girls'" movie! I also did not think it was a Toy Story rip off as there have been a ton of movies featuring toys that come alive long before Toy Story anyway.
